Little Things

Everyone has their bad days. I write this to help you, but also as reminders for myself of things that bring that little spark of joy. Here are my tips to brighten my day just a little bit:

Make your Bed: I have no idea why this helps but it makes my life seem more together.

Make some lemon or ginger tea: Helps soothe your soul... and stomach

Take a bath/shower: Sometimes I take a hot bath to relax, and other times I take a cold shower to shock some life into me.

Meditate/Pray/Breathe: Anything that makes you present and focus on the now, and connects you with your world or higher power can definitely help.

Read: A magazine, a book, a cereal box... whatever it is can truly center you.

Stretch/Move: When I get a funk I like to box. That might not be quite your thing but running, yoga, or just plain stretching can definitely clear your head.

Journal: Make a list of things you are grateful for, write words that inspire you, go on a little rant, whatever you feel is write... I mean right... (okay I am so not funny)

Create: paint, write, draw, sing, dance, play an instrument... do not worry about how good you are, just focus on how it makes you feel

Clean your room (or any task that has a beginning and end): When I am stressed I step away and do something that is productive and has a specific end. This helps to make things a little less overwhelming especially when I have a lot to do.

Call your someone you love: For me its my mom, sorry mom for the late night calls... love you

Open a window/sit outside: You'd be surprised how much some fresh air and sunshine can relax you.

Simplify your thought: Focus on the small stuff rather than the big picture, this can help to make you less overwhelmed or sad.

Get off your phone: toxic habits = toxic thoughts... its okay in small amounts, but social media can really effect well being

This is just a quick reminder that you are loved, emotions and situations are temporary (so find some joy in all of them... even the sh*tty ones), and everything happens exactly when it is supposed to. Take a breath and if things start to spiral or seem too much to handle, it is a-okay to talk to someone/get help. We all need it at one point or another.

xx
